For St. Patrick’s Day we held a 24 hour hour event where monkeys could earn a variety of cosmetic items if they wrote specific words! This will be a repeated pattern in the future once we launch (on April 1st) and was a valuable test to see what needs to be tweaked.

The setup

There were just two achievements available, each which granted an item and required the monkey to write a specific word in the 24 hour session:

The results

60 monkeys, typing for 24 hours, at 10 characters per second… The results are in!

Scarpo Rabuck is the ONLY monkey to earn either achievement! He wrote “gold” within the last 10 minutes of the event, and gets the most exclusive item available. Every other monkey weeps in sorrow, and screeches in jealousy - they’ll never have this rare item, the event is over!

Moving Forward

If Scarpo didn’t get his gold pot in the last ten minutes of the event, that means no monkey would’ve earned anything. This would be a pretty uneventful event, and is not ideal. In the future we’ll tweak a few things to make these events a little more accessible, such as:

• Including more trigger words (particularly more 4 letter words)
• Longer event timeline (maybe 48 hours instead of 24)
• Increase typing rate
