Four-letter words are FINISHED!

discuss on reddit

In just 28 short days, and with over 11,000 stinky monkeys, we have now written every four-letter word that appears in Shakespeare's works - nearly 220,000 words, meaning our productive monkeys on average contributed about 20 words each!

This includes common words like "this" and "that" as well as some more rare words like "boom" and even "apes"!

The hardest word, and our last holdout holdout was "your" - which was written 6859 times - the last of which was by Zazzy Lister. This means Zazzy is the last monkey to ever contribute a 4 letter word to our ultimate goal of writing all of Shakespeare's works!

As a reward for accomplishing this incredible task, I'm pleased to provide every monkey that helped with a Golden Typewriter.

If your monkey joined too late to be able to contribute, don't worry, we have another milestone right around the corner...

Five-letter Words

Those five-letter words are looking decently close to completion as well! However, looks can be deceiving... While we've discovered all of them, and written 90% of the total five-letter words, some of these words have a long way to go still! For example "would" appears 2406 times in Shakespeare... but we've only written in 165 times! Only about 7% complete. At this rate, we'll probably be in 2026 by the time it's done! To speed it up, we're gonna need more monkeys (so tell your friends!) or faster monkeys.

But either way, there's still plenty of discoveries waiting to be made, and more items to earn, and more updates coming out soon!
