Christmas Miracle! Five-letter words are DONE!!

Word Progress

It took 28 days to write all the four letter words in Shakespeare's works... and nearly ten times to write all the five letter words, but we did it!!! With the support of over 15,000 monkeys (and apes), we have now written every five-letter word that appears in Shakespeare's works! We originally estimated to reach this milestone some time in 2026 Q1 - but our hairy friends have been hard at work, and managed to get it in time for New Years!

If you've been checking up on the monkeys, that last holdout word was "would" - which despite only appearing a measly 2406 times, was one of the harder words for monkeys to type. This is because we weight the random letters by common English distribution, so 'e' appears far more than 'q' - this makes valid words much more common (and the experience a little more fun) but actually hurts some words. Would is one of those words hurt by this, being slightly harder to type than if the monkeys were truly random.

Who wrote the final word?

The monkey who wrote the final 'would', at 3:56 PM EST on Thursday, December 25, 2025, is none other than... Wrotchy Crilpy! A chimp who seems to enjoy sandwiches, solar power, and comfy living. Just 20 minutes later, Morgle Skippington wrote 'would' as well... but it was too late. No longer did that contribute anything to our cause. Morgle has received a pep talk, several sessions of therapy, and has been placed on a performance improvement plan.

Rewards

As a reward for accomplishing this incredible task (and as a belated holiday update) there's a few new items you might find!

  • All monkeys who contributed a 5-letter word got a Shakespeare Hat
  • All monkeys who were around for it got an Ink and Quill
  • Added a Santa Hat and Snowman as Holiday items

What's next?

Obviously 6-letter words... But I also have a new infinite-words-related project coming out very soon so stay tuned!
